How to clean and care for your shoes

A little care goes a long way with a handmade shoe. Here is what to do for this model.

Leather upper

Wipe with a soft dry or barely damp cloth. A neutral leather cream now and then keeps it supple. Always dry naturally, never near a radiator.

Storage
  • Keep the shoes in their fabric bag, away from damp and direct light; never in a closed box while still damp.
  • Check the heel protectors: once the heel touches the floor they need replacing, before the heel itself gets damaged.
  • If you dance often, alternate two pairs: the shoe dries out and the sole lasts longer.
